Surviving the Teen Years
Presented by Caron and The Bridge Way School
Every parent knows that their children grow and change as they mature from newborns to young adults. Parents also have dreams of a wonderful life for their children. What they do not always know is how to parent teens as they begin to test limits, challenge authority and engage in dangerous behaviors such as using drugs and alcohol in a problematic manner. This is especially true during the “teen years” when communication becomes increasingly difficult. Many parents struggle to set boundaries for adolescents who are using drugs and alcohol. This lecture describes healthy communication styles and clearly outlines the steps to creating and reinforcing parental boundaries. It is designed to provide parents with education regarding adolescent addiction and the unique parenting skills required when a teen is using drugs and alcohol in a problematic manner.
