Supporting At-Risk Non-Traditional First Generation Students

This interactive training will increase the wareness and effectiveness of instructors when working with at-risk and non-traditional/ first generation college students (ANTF)-including high school students while they are thinking about college. Participants will develop an understanding of how trauma affects learning and knowledge acqusition. Learn students engagement strageties to help students be successful in the classrooms.

Objectives and Outcomes:

-Understanding the lived expereince of ANTF students in high school and college learning

-Mentoring Through Rubrics

-Working organizational solutions for cohesion in the college entry and exit process.

-Student sucess best practices from ANTF students from the perspective of the lived expereince.

-Increased graduation rates through effective teaching and learning practices.

– Maximize faculty abilities and teaching practices.

-Highlight faculty/staff strength and the benefits

Certification
The trainers, GSC Education Group, has recently been approved by the Council of At-Risk Student Education and Professional Standards to provide Certification in At-Risk Student Education for those who attend this training. Certification may require attending one additional smaller after August 1st to be valid.
