Support Temple University’s Project New Orleans
Posted by on November 3, 2006
Dear Community Members,
I am writing to inform you of an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of many others. The world was aware of the devastating effects that Hurricane Katrina had on the New Orleans community. What many people are not aware of is that the aftermath of Katrina is ongoing. Members of the New Orleans community are still fighting to rebuild their families, homes, and lives. At this time, the Temple University chapter of the National Social Work Honor Society, Alpha Delta Mu, is coordinating Project New Orleans, and lending a hand to continue to strengthen and rebuild New Orleans.
Departing on January 5, 2006, approximately 20 Temple students will be traveling to New Orleans through the organization Hope Unites. Hope Unites is a faith based organization that puts emphasis on community service. They will provide our group leaders, itinerary, lodging, and food.
The purpose of our trip will not only be to work side by side with members of the New Orleans community in an effort to make a difference in the restructuring. We will also seek to gain an in-depth understanding of some of the perpetual issues faced by the New Orleans community and bring our lessons back to the Temple and Philadelphia community. Our goal is to make this an experience and a lesson that will always be remembered by us, those we reach out to in New Orleans, and those we bring the experience back to in Philadelphia.
We call on you today to invite you to participate in Project New Orleans. In order to make this a successful event, we need to raise $8,000 for the cause, and we ask for your assistance. Every donation will help to achieve our goal. Moreover, every donation, no matter how big or small, is making a large difference in the community of New Orleans by enabling us to make this trip. Donations can be made payable to Temple University-Alpha Delta Mu and sent to the following address:
Temple University-Alpha Delta Mu
Project New Orleans
1301 Cecil B. Moore

By sending in your donation you are not just contributing money, but you are also becoming a part of our team. We will continue to update you on the progress of our fundraising and the success of our trip. If possible, we will also share our experiences with your community or organization upon our return.
