Support Shadowing Day for Philadelphia students

On Thursday, November 18, 2004 Philadelphia area businesses/organizations will welcome 9th grade students from the Philadelphia School District into their workplaces to give them firsthand exposure to the everyday working world. Shadowing Day is an experience during which students are paired with employee mentors for a day to learn about particular careers. Last year, over 1000 students and 100 businesses/organizations participated in Shadowing Day. Shadowing Day is now a component of the City?s coordinated youth workforce development system known as WorkReady Philadelphia.

* To raise neighborhood awareness of your business
What is involved in participating in Shadowing Day?
The worksite coordinator is responsible for:
* Organizing the day
* Recruiting employees to serve a mentors
* Attending an orientation session
* Communicating with school coordinator
* Preparing information about their workplace to share with students
* Matching students with employee mentors

Please include name, business/organization name, address, phone number and email of coordinator, as well as the number of students that your workplace is willing to host on Shadowing Day. All requests should be submitted no later than October 22, 2004.
