American Association of Community Colleges Offers Support for Service Learning Workshops
Deadline: October 21, 2005
The American Association of Community Colleges (<a href="http://www.aacc.nche.edu/">http://www.aacc.nche.edu/</a>) has announced the availability of four $2,000 mini-grants for community colleges to organize and host regional service learning workshops in 2006 as part of the Community Colleges Broadening Horizons through Service Learning program.
AACC will select up to four workshop sites based on geographical diversity, ease of transportation to the site, topics featured, need for training, and ability to present a well-run workshop. AACC is particularly interested in organizing workshops in states that have not received Horizons funding before (i.e., Alaska, Delaware, Idaho, Massachusetts, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming), and that do not generally have statewide or regional service learning training opportunities available.
AACC will provide $2,000, which must be matched by $2,000 from the recipient institution. Matching funds may be cash or in-kind.
Each mini-grant recipient must agree to organize and host a workshop for the recipient college and at least four other community colleges no later than July 31, 2006.
Visit the AACC Web site for complete program information and an application form.
