Primary responsibilities for this position include coordinating the Supplemental Instruction (SI) program, coordinating the Peer Educators Acquiring Knowledge (PEAK) training program for tutors and SI Leaders, offering consistent Learning Strategy Consultation hours, developing and delivering student workshops, attending Invisible Safety Net (ISN) meetings and assigning Starfish flags, and serving as a proctor for the Office of Student Disability Services during peak testing times.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Direct the implementation of the Supplemental Instruction (SI) program in coordination with department chairs and faculty members.
  • Supervise a student staff of 25-35 SI Leaders, which includes recruiting, hiring, approving hours, and collaborating with professors
  • Train and observe SI Leaders and Mentors, including start-of-term training and observations conducted throughout the academic year
  • Market the SI program through in-person classroom visits and web and print marketing materials
  • Maintain the program by scheduling session times and rooms, securing materials, and processing schedule and room changes as requested by SI Leaders
  • Maintain documentation of program attendance and report the information throughout the semester
  • Evaluate and assess the program through design and distribution of evaluations to leaders, students, and professors; process evaluations and contribute to the OLR Mid-Year and End-of-Year Reports; suggest improvements to program as a result of the feedback
  • Coordinate the Peer Educators Acquiring Knowledge (PEAK) professional development program for tutors and SI Leaders, which includes securing speakers from across the university
  • Offer consistent Learning Strategy Consultations for 11-12 hours weekly
  • Develop and deliver learning focused workshops as part of a designated series and/or as requested by faculty and student groups
  • Support student retention by representing the office at Invisible Safety Net (ISN) meetings and assigning flags for outreach from Starfish (the student retention management system)
  • Proctor exams for the Office of Student Disability Services during peak testing times
  • Mentor students through the Rebound and PASS programs
  • Represent the office at meetings and on committees relevant to learning and student success

This is a 10-month position.
