Sunrise of Philadelphia is hiring multiple part-time positions to work with young people in our Kindergarten – 8th grade summer camps. We’re looking for dependable and reliable summer staff to support our young people in having a fun and educational summer. Our camps are located at Chester A. Arthur and Stanton Schools in South Philly. These programs operate Monday, July 2 – Friday, August 3 from 8 AM – 1 PM. Staff orientation and training happen in the two weeks before program begins.
Here are the open positions:
1. Group Leader supervises and facilitates daily activities with students. The Group Leader is responsible for the safety of all students in their group. They ensure students are engaged and participating in the summer program. Responsibilities include the following:
-Manage student participation and behavior, using positive behavior tactics to get students engaged and actively participating in all daily program activities
-Monitor and lead activities based in literacy, recreation, and other educational based projects
-Manage daily sign in and out sheets, ensuring student attendance is accurately recorded every day
-Ensure students stay on schedule and transition smoothly from one activity to the next
-Maintain a positive environment and provide personalized support to students
-Ensure students are using supplies and program spaces respectfully
-Communicate with caregivers and family members when needed regarding student behaviors
Requirements for Group Leader: Must have at least 1 year experience working with children. Minimum of a high school diploma. Associates degree or higher preferred. The pay range for this position is $11 – $14 depending on your experience and education.
2. Group Aide assists the group leader in supervising students in all program activities. The Group Aide is an active team member who ensures the safety of students, monitors student participation, and responds to the needs of the group. Responsibilities include the following:
-Assist Group Leaders and classroom instructors with daily program activities, getting supplies set up and ready, helping students participate, etc.
-Serve meals and snacks to students
-Ensure students stay on schedule and transition smoothly from one activity to the next
-Maintain a positive environment and provide personalized support to students
-Ensure students are using supplies and program spaces respectfully
-Help students clean up their space at the end of each program activity
-Takes direction from the Group Leader
Requirements for Group Aide: Must have some experience working with children. Minimum of a high school diploma. The pay range for this position is $9 – $12 depending on your experience and education.
3. Program Aide assists the overall program to make sure everyone has the supplies they need, that meals and snacks are properly distributed, and that all program spaces are clean and tidy before and after program activities. Responsibilities include the following:
-Distribute meals and snacks to students and completed all paperwork for meals on a daily basis
-Ensure all food is put away, tables are cleaned, floors are swept, trash is removed, and other general clean-up of area when students complete snack
-Bring supplies and materials to program spaces as directed by Site Director, Group Leader, Group Aide, and other activity leaders
-Assist with program dismissal, monitoring the front door and dismissing children to their caregivers
-Provide friendly service to all visitors, volunteers, clients, students, parents and monitors.
Requirements for Program Aide: No experience required, but must have an interest in working with children. A high school diploma is required. The pay range for this position is $7.25 – $9.25 depending on your experience and education.
4. Substitute Group Leaders and Group Aides: we’re also hiring people to join our list of substitutes. You’d only be called in to work if one of our permanent staff needs to be out. Please review the responsibilities and requirements for the Group Leader and Group Aide positions as listed above.
