Summer program for girls
Posted by Own Your Awesomeness on May 22, 2017
Own Your Awesomeness is a local nonprofit that empowers high school girls through skill-building workshops and conversations about what it’s like to be a teenage girl today. During our week-long summer program in Center City Philadelphia, we:
- change a tire, develop financial literacy, cook, and use power tools
- create art, practice yoga, and discover poetry
- learn about women’s health, discuss women’s representation in the media, and reflect on body image and self love
- explore the city, build community, meet mentors, and more!
Through our activities, girls try new things and learn new skills, developing confidence and having fun. We give girls physical, mental, and emotional tools to be self-reliant so they can see and be their best selves.
“Own Your Awesomeness was such a great experience. I’ve learned new skills and lessons I will take with me for the rest of my life. I also learned to express, love, and appreciate myself.”
