JEVS offers summer internships for HS, college students

JEVS Human Services is now accepting applications for its two summer internship programs: Lasko College Prep Program, a college preparatory program for lower income Jewish high school juniors; and Franklin C. Ash Summer Internship Program for Jewish college students who are currently sophomores and juniors.

The Lasko program combines group and individual tutoring for standardized tests, college guidance, and a seven-week internship in Jewish communal agencies. The program includes a mitzvah project. Students are matched with college students in the Ash internship program to serve as mentors. In addition, the Lasko program follows participants throughout their senior year of high school. Students and their families continue to meet with a JEVS educational consultant to receive college guidance, such as preparing entrance applications and essays, understanding financial aid, and completing the appropriate financial aid paperwork. The Lasko College Prep Program is provided at no cost to the students, and they will receive payment for following the program guidelines. Students must be 4-year college-bound.

The Ash program is a co-ed, non-religious work experience for rising junior and senior Jewish college students. Students are selected for their academic achievement, leadership qualities, and willingness to mentor a Jewish high school student and expand their own knowledge of the Jewish community. One day a week, we hold career focused workshops, leadership building assignments, and various activities in the Jewish community. Students receive a stipend of $1800 after the successful completion of the seven-week program. Students also participate in a mitzvah project.
