National Humanities Center Offers Summer Institute for High School Teachers
Deadline: March 4, 2005
The National Humanities Center is offering a summer institute for high school teachers on "American Beginnings: America, 1492-1760."
Under the direction of outstanding scholars, participants will meet in a lively and rigorous seminar and will also help to select material for an online "seminar toolbox" that will become part of the National Humanities Center’s Toolbox Library. The library provides teachers with the texts and inquiry strategies they need to build their own local seminars.
The institute will be held from June 27 to July 8, 2005, at the National Humanities Center in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
The institute is open to high school teachers of history, literature, and art.
Participants will receive a stipend of $1,000. The center will provide housing.
See the National Humanities Center Web site for complete summer institute guidelines as well as information on other center programs.
