HINDI PROGRAM
University of Pennsylvania July 9 – July 27, 2012
Penn’s STARTALK Summer Hindi Program invites applicants from grades 9-12 in public and private schools in Philadelphia and neighboring regions.
CURRICULUM will:
• Engage students in a wide range of activities, exercises, and projects to raise their language skills
• Promotes students’ interest in Hindi and the culture of South Asia through a standards-based curriculum
• Provide students with a learning packet containing Hindi learning materials
• Also, students are invited to post-program activities to practice their Hindi from August through February, including online reunions, face-to-face reunions, and our Maza club!
FACULTY
Experienced and qualified Penn faculty will teach the courses. Guest speakers will enrich the program by introducing the target culture information through engaging activities & “Skyping” from India.
CLASS SCHEDULE
July 9 – July 27, 2012
Classes meet 9 AM – 4 PM on weekdays
ELIGIBILITY
Prior knowledge of Hindi is not required.
Enrollment is limited to 16 students.
TUITION
Credit Option
Students may elect to receive 1 Credit Unit (CU) from U Penn at a reduced tuition fee of $1,550.
Non-Credit Option
For the non-credit option the program will be offered on full scholarship.
