Summer Environmental Educator at The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education:
The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education is looking for energetic, highly motivated, creative and professional leaders to work as environmental educators and outdoor adventure leaders with our summer program. Educators will help plan the summer’s programs and work with children aged 10-12 or 13-15. Programming includes environmental education topics such as watersheds, pollution, diversity etc. as well as day hikes, backpacking canoeing, rafting, biking, climbing, teambuilding and outdoor skills. Educators lead weeklong treks to various State and National Parks along the north east coast. Educators will work from June 14th-August 20th, 2010 which includes one week for planning and orientation.

Desired Qualifications
– Ability to commit to the entire summer
– Experience working with school-age children
– Desire and ability to work with children and youth in expedition settings
– Training and experience with adventure/trip programs (must be documented)
– Experience with group process and with facilitating team initiatives
– Past experience with outdoor service projects, appreciated
– Ability to supervise and team-lead groups of 18+ campers ages 10-15 in outdoor adventure settings and in overnight settings
– Ability and willingness to place the needs of campers and camp above personal desires
– Open to giving and receiving feedback in a constructive and professional manner
– Good judgment, integrity, maturity and flexibility.
– Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control.
– Some college education required
– Ability to develop and implement educational lessons and crafts surrounding given subject matter
– Assist in maintenance of equipment
– Ability to drive a 15-passenger rental van
– Valid driver’s license
– At least 21 years of age
Salary Range: 400-600 week based on experience.
