Across the country, a movement is growing. “Service” is becoming a national buzzword. From building houses to building economies to building meaningful relationships, people are rolling up their sleeves and getting to work. The 2nd Annual Student Service Leaders Conference will bring together students, nonprofit professionals and community organizers to share passionate ideas and practical skills. Whether you’re a volunteer-a-holic or a service novice, the Student Service Leaders Conference can help you improve your toolbox for building a better Philadelphia.
During the conference, participants will choose from the following workshop topics:
Workshop I: 11:10 AM-12:15 PM
- Technology for Nonprofits with Heather Cronk of the New Organizing Institute
- Fundraising with Naomi Christine Leaphart of the Matchstick Group
- Volunteer Recruitment with Megan Keisel of the Campaign for Working Families
- Nonprofit Career Development panel with Chris Waters, Karyntha Cadogan, and Tim Ifill of the Philadelphia Young Nonprofit Leaders
Workshop II: 1:00-2:15 PM
- Education with Genna Degan from City Year Greater Philadelphia
- Public Health with Danny Gerber of the Agatston Urban Nutrition Initiative at Penn and Michele Samsi of St. Catherine Laboure Medical Clinic
- Hunger and Homelessness with Anna Kastner of the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger and Howard Walters of OMG Center for Collaborative Learning (formerly with People’s Emergency Center)
- Environment with Liz Robinson of the Energy Coordinating Agency
