Student Intern, Bread and Roses Community Fund

Posted by on October 15, 2004

Bread and Roses Community Fund is happy to announce an internship opportunity for students for the 2004 fall semester. Bread and Roses is a public foundation that offers grants and technical assistance to organizations in the Delaware Valley working for economic and social justice. Working with Bread and Roses is an excellent opportunity for students interested in learning more about community organizing and about building and supporting a movement through social change philanthropy.

Bread and Roses Community Fund has an immediate need for an intern to support our fall funding cycle. The grants intern will assist with receiving and organizing the fall grant applications, including processing applications as they arrive, contacting applicants, and preparing proposal packets for the Community Funding Board.

Internship dates are October 12 to November 5 (General Fund grant cycle) and November 8 to December 3 (Phoebus Criminal Justice Initiative); we welcome applicants for either or both of these cycles. The time commitment is 10 hours/week. This is a great opportunity to learn about Philadelphia-area organizing, fund-raising processes and resources, and non-profit structure in a friendly, supportive environment.

Who we are: Bread and Roses Community Fund brings together donors and activists who share a vision of a just society, one in which power and resources are distributed equitably. Bread and Roses provides grants and technical assistance to support disenfranchised communities in the Delaware Valley that are taking collective action to bring about economic and social change locally and around the world.

For more information or to apply, contact Nava EtShalom at info@breadrosesfund.org or 215-731-1107 x204. We also offer spring internships in event organizing and assisting with other grant cycles; and we are always happy to work with volunteers in our office.
