Registration opens for 2015 hunger walk
Registration is now open for the Stroehmann Walk+Run Against Hunger. The event will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 11 at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Started in 1996, the Walk+Run Against Hunger raises funds for more than 100 food pantries, soup kitchens and hunger-relief agencies in the region. Over the past year, many of these organizations have struggled to keep up with the growing need in their communities. There is no minimum for a donation. The 5K run is a USATF-certified, chip-timed course on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Walk t-shirts are available for $10 and come in a variety of sizes. Runners can raise funds to benefit local hunger-fighting nonprofits by setting up a donation page on the website. The event also features live entertainment, special guests, free food and fun activities for all ages. For more information, call 215-430-0555 or email [email protected].
