Registration is still open for a three-day “Strategies for Success with Literacy: A Learning Curriculum that Serves” Institute in College Station Texas with Cathryn Berger Kaye — July 31-August 2, 2007. This innovative program integrates high level literacy skill development with character education and civic engagement through service learning. Currently being implemented with 20,000 students in the Los Angeles Unified School District, this research-based program offers opportunities to engage students in academic achievement and leadership that occurs through over 50 detailed lessons/activities with high quality service learning integrated throughout. The training includes teacher materials and a wide range of effective teaching strategies that transform schools, classrooms, and enable students to emerge with competence and confidence.
