Stories, Resilience and Self-Care: Changing the Story Through Trauma Informed Care

Posted by Healing 10 on April 20, 2015

Working In Camden means working in an environment of toxic-stress. The impact of this environment is profound for all who live here and work here. Toxic-stress impacts our brain health. The great news is that we can care for our brain through self-care! Nice!!!!!

Join the Healing 10 for an amazing day focused on practical skills of self-care. Resiliency is an exercise that requires day to day attention. This workshop will be just that—helping to focus you and your organization on key aspects of your life and work so that you can be present, attentive and life giving to those you encounter day to day. You will learn now to create an environment in which your brain is cared for and you are present and working well.

The stories we learn, believe, create and perpetuate shape our frame of reference and beliefs. affect every connection we have, and the lives of those who follow us. What story do you believe about the impact of overwhelming events your life? More important, how can you change that story for the future? This one day event offers people the opportunity to explore their own story solo, talk about the impact of social perceptions on the story they carry; how we all fulfill each other’s story; the task of changing the story and the role self-care and meaning making take in a changed future. We’ll do as the Hawaiians do and “talk story,” we’ll learn about the second hand impact of overwhelming events and circumstances, and we’ll practice new stories. Expect to be engaged!
