STOP VIOLENCE! PUT DOWN THE GUNS! PICK UP THE MIC! YOUTH BATTLE
In the City of Philadelphia there has been an increase of teen violence and murders. Many families have been affected and communities destroyed. This summer alone, many young lives have been lost to senseless acts of violence. With idol time, many teens find themselves on the streets, an unsafe place.
The John Whitehead There’s No Stoppin’ The Music Foundation is proud to present PUT DOWN THE GUNS, PICK UP THE MIC YOUTH BLOWOUT. The event will take place at the:
LONNIE YOUNG RECREATION CENTER
1100 East Chelten Avenue (Chelten and Ardleigh)
Friday, September 9
7pm-11pm
The purpose of these parties is to promote safe and fun alternatives for youth during the school year. Youth will have the opportunity to express themselves through our hip-hop and rap competitions. These competitions will challenge the minds of our youth to produce music that is purposeful. Special attention will be given to those that address teen violence in Philadelphia and some preventative solutions. These parties are geared towards youth between the ages of 13-17. The parties will allow youth the opportunity to meet, mingle, dance and have fun in a safe environment.
BATTLE ZONE WINNERS RECEIVE CASH PRIZES.
