Grandma’s Kids seeks stipended volunteers
The Grandma’s Kids After-School Program (GK) is a special out-of-school-time program housed in area schools that provides assistance to children living with family other than a biological or adoptive parent.
The program offers homework assistance from Temple University tutors, social and emotional support from social work student interns, and opportunities to attend cultural and recreational events and trips. GK provides these services to children in grades K-5.
GK is seeking volunteers who will function as a liaison between the school office and the Grandma’s Kids program. Volunteers provide support in the classroom, help students with homework, lead and/or aid in class discussions and activities, join the class on walks, and attend events outside the school setting.
They also assist both the Site Coordinator and Site Assistant with calling parents in cases of emergencies, early dismissals, late pick-ups and other program-related activities. Each volunteer receives a stipend of $25 per month. The program runs from October 7th through June 6th, Monday through Friday, 3-5:30pm.
