About Steppingstone:
Steppingstone Scholars works with families and school partners to provide rigorous educational programming and support for talented underserved students in the Philadelphia region to achieve academic success, opportunity, and a college degree. Steppingstone Academy now supports over 400 students and their families, from 5th grade through college, providing a curriculum that includes summer/weekend academic programs, internships, tutoring, enrichment, and academic advising services, where we mediate between families and schools in an effort to narrow not only the gap in achievement but how minority and low-income students are served by their schools.

Qualifications
➢ Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred)
➢ Experience teaching middle/high school students
➢ Demonstrated awareness of the math concepts, operations, and relations tested on the SAT (e.g. solving/interpreting linear equations and inequalities, using ratios to solve multi-step problems)
➢ Experience teaching students from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
➢ Willingness to work collaboratively with other Faculty and Program Director to achieve desired learning outcomes including
➢ Assessing student academic and social emotional strengths; responding to areas where improvement is necessary

Responsibilities
➢ Attend mandatory instructor training
➢ Follow recommended course sequence to deliver high quality instruction
➢ Spend two to three hours each week reviewing instructional materials and preparing lessons
➢ Deliver rigorous and challenging instructional material while appealing to multiple learning styles
➢ Utilize effective classroom management strategies during instruction
➢ Inform Program Director of any issues that may impact course effectiveness (e.g. excessive student absence)
➢ Assign homework and monitor completion using the online instructor portal
➢ Work closely with Program Director to analyze student assessment data and use data to inform instruction
➢ Work with colleagues to plan and implement program activities as need
