US Airways Education Foundation Accepting Applications for STEM-Based Education Programs
US Airways Education Foundation is accepting applications from nonprofit organizations for educational programs focused on economically disadvantaged or developmentally disabled children, or programs that increase student interest and academic achievement in science, technology, engineering, and math. The program is open to nonprofit organizations located within the airline’s hub cities of Charlotte, Philadelphia, Phoenix, and Washington, D.C.
Grants will be awarded to support educational programs focused on learning and academic achievement for economically disadvantaged children age 18 and younger. To be eligible, at least 75 percent of the population served by the program must qualify for free and reduced-price meals.
In addition, the foundation supports educational programs focused on learning and academic achievement for developmentally disabled children ages 18 and younger. To be eligible, at least 75 percent of the population served by the program must qualify for special needs education as defined by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
Programs that increase student interest and academic achievement in science, technology, engineering, and math as well as innovative, evidence-based programs designed to increase the participation and academic achievement of students in STEM also will be considered.
The amount of annual funding is subject to change from year to year and is solely dependent on funds raised in the previous year.
To be eligible, nonprofit organizations must be considered tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and be located with the airlines hub cities of Charlotte, Philadelphia, Phoenix, and Washington, D.C.
