United Way is once again partnering with Governor Rendell to help Pennsylvanians brace for another winter of high energy bills.  With heating bills expected to be as much as 30% higher than last year, now is the time to reach out to Pennsylvanians to help them stay warm this winter. We are organizing a Stay Warm Energy Summit and invite you to participate.

Since 2001, home heating costs have soared 166% for heating oil, 44% for natural gas and 27% for electricity.  We cannot afford to wait until the weather turns cold to take action for our citizens.

With our Stay Warm Energy Summit, we will bring together local organizations to capture the collective experience and creativity of community leaders to help us develop a statewide plan and strategy to help Pennsylvanians save money, cut energy costs and learn where they can help — right in their own communities.

The first ever Stay Warm Energy Summit was held in October 2005, just a month after Hurricane Katrina caused refineries to shut down, resulting in sky-rocketing fuel costs.  This winter, numbers show home heating costs once again rising faster than most can afford and that is why we holding our second summit.

You can make a difference this winter in your community.  To confirm your attendance, please email your name, agency/company, email address, and phone number to [email protected].  We look forward to meeting you and having you participate in this very important event.
