State of the Pay for Success Field: Opportunities, Trends and Recommendations

Posted by Corporation for National and Community Service on May 11, 2015

At the Corporation for National and Community Service, the Social Innovation Fund addresses our most pressing social problems by finding effective solutions and mobilizing private resources to help them grow. Through our Pay for Success (PFS) program, we are playing an important role in seeding and strengthening the field of PFS, by advancing leadership, innovation, and problem-solving at the state and local level and among nonprofit organizations.

Today, I am pleased to share with you our latest resource on the field of Pay for Success, titled State of the Pay for Success Field: Opportunities, Trends and Recommendations. In this report, you will be able to learn more about the many Pay for Success projects that have been in development and those nearing the implementation stage, as well as explore emerging themes and recommendations for the PFS field moving forward.

Since the launch of our PFS program in October 2014, the Social Innovation Fund has funded capacity building and project structuring for 43 PFS projects across the country in more than 35 different cities and states, in fields ranging from early childhood development, asthma prevention, teen pregnancy, supportive housing, homelessness, to workforce development and recidivism. In the coming months and years, we look forward to watching how SIF’s early investment in PFS technical assistance can catalyze the field of outcomes-based financing, and encourage a focus on truly paying for what works.

I invite you to learn more about the Social Innovation Fund’s PFS program and read the report, by visiting our website at http://nationalservice.gov/SIF. I also encourage you to share the report with your organizations network through your monthly newsletter and on social media.

Regards,

Lois Nembhard, Acting Director
