Report on State Food Action Plans: Reduce Bureaucracy to Promote Food Democracy
According to the report, “The Case for Food Action Plans: Laboratories of Food Democracy,” bureaucracy and paperwork stand in the way of States when addressing rising rates of food insecurity, hunger, and obesity. According to the report, Food Action Plans (FAPs) can effectively streamline government processes so that food security issues can be addressed in a timely manner. The report proposes that States can rapidly achieve solutions to pressing food security issues through FAPs by indentifying pressing hunger, nutrition or agricultural problems, gathering a diverse knowledge base, and evaluating best practices, among other strategies. The report can be found on the Center for American Progress website.
