Job description
The Staff Relations Manager is responsible to manage all aspects of employee relations for 600+ employees throughout the organization. The Staff Relations Manager is an integral part of the HR department and contributes to the organization success by promoting strong and effective employee relations.
EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university. PHR or SPHR certification preferred. Meet all regulatory agency requirements and comply with all Wordsworth policies regarding child abuse, criminal, medical, and other clearances. Possess a valid driver’s license.
EXPERIENCE:
At least five (5) to eight (8) years related generalist experience in human resources including employee relations in a nonprofit organization preferred. Experience in employee investigations is a must.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE:
- Promotes fairness, equity, consistency and inclusion in the application of policies and procedures as part of the Wordsworth culture.
- Be accessible to employees to hear unfiltered concerns and suggestions. Assist employees to appropriately address concerns and make improvement recommendations.
- Conducts and/or ensures timely, effective, thorough and objective investigations. Works to resolve ongoing employee relations problems, anticipate problems whenever possible, and develop, recommend, and initiate appropriate steps for resolution.
- Consults with program managers/leaders in policy areas such as staff performance, corrective actions and other staff related matters. Provide day to day staff performance management guidance.
- Knows and effectively applies employment law and best practices. Ensures compliance with all legal requirements.
- Develops, manages and facilitates annual and quarterly Manager Training and participates in the development and facilitation of Monthly Lunch & Learn programs and other staff development programs.
