SPRUCE FOUNDATION OPENS 2015 GRANT APPLICATION CYCLE
Applications Now Being Accepted for Organizations Serving Philadelphia’s Youth
On #GivingTuesday, December 2nd, the Spruce Foundation opened up applications for their 2015 granting cycle. Applications are due by January 23rd, 2015 at 5 pm. Grantees will be announced in March 2015.
The Spruce Foundation (“Spruce”) selects grantees through a rigorous application process that examines Philadelphia-based, emerging nonprofits working to empower at-risk youth. Partners are selected for each of Spruce’s four program areas: education, arts, health and wellness, and LGBTQ. In support of their work, Spruce provides grantees with financial support, publicity, and volunteers. Past grantees include Girls on the Run, iPraxis, the Attic Youth Center, Asian Arts Initiative, Rock to the Future, and more.
For the 2015 granting cycle, one grant of $5,000 will be made in each of Spruce’s four program areas, for a total of $20,000. Spruce will provide programmatic support to organizations with organizational budgets of more than $300,000 and will provide general operating support to organizations with organizational budgets less than or equal to $300,000. Key application details include:
Applicants must have 501(c)(3) status or apply through a fiscal sponsor.
Applications will only be accepted online via an online form here: http://www.sprucefoundation.org/application
The organization or program applying for funding must be conducted exclusively in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
Spruce favors agencies that offer volunteer opportunities for Spruce’s network of civically and philanthropically engaged millennials. The grantmaking committee also gives priority to newer agencies with innovative strategies for addressing pressing needs within the Greater Philadelphia Area. The 2015 Spruce Foundation Grantmaking Committee is co-chaired by Liz Thompson and John Lyons. Questions about the grant application should be directed to [email protected].
