Spotlighting Positive Youth Development Building Our Youth for the Future

Live Video Conference / Allentown, Erie, Harrisburg, Lancaster, Mill Hall, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and York

Plan now to attend Spotlighting Positive Youth Development. This event will increase awareness and constructive attitudes about Positive Youth Development among key state public and private leaders to inform policy decisions and practice on the state and local level. Participants will engage in onsite discussions on key issues and will develop action plans that foster and improve Positive Youth Development in their communities.

Out-of-School Time leadership, direct and non-direct youth workers, elected officials, children and youth, parents, workforce development, public education and faith based leaders are encouraged to attend.

Keynote speakers include Ryan Howard and Dr. Nicole Webster.

Ryan Howard has quickly made a name for himself as one of the most prodigious power hitters of this generation. As the fastest player in history to reach 100 home runs, Howard has taken the game by storm in five seasons in the majors. With his incredible talent, charm and charisma, Howard is considered by many to be the face of the new generation of superstars in Major League Baseball. In 2009 he launched the Ryan Howard Family Foundation with a mission to improve the lives of disadvantaged youth and families. This is achieved primarily through the development and implementation of programs that advance education, nutrition, physical fitness and social economic status.

Nicole Webster, Ph.D.

Service-Learning and Outreach
College of Agricultural Sciences
Penn State University
Dr. Webster’s research focuses on understanding the impact of service learning experiences on youth and young adults in school and community-based settings. She specializes in service learning research and outreach as an intervention tool for minority youth in marginalized low-income communities. Dr. Webster has received many awards including being recognized as a John Glenn Service-Learning Scholar and receiving the Emerging Scholar Award of International Conference in Service Learning Research.
