Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund invites applications from conservation organizations

The Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund is innovative philanthropy providing small grants to boots-on-the-ground, get-your-hands-dirty, in-the-field species conservation projects for the world’s most threatened species. It was established to provide targeted grants to individual species conservation initiatives, recognize leaders in the field, and elevate the importance of species in the broader conservation debate.

To that end, grants of up to $25,000 will be awarded to support plant, animal, and fungi species conservation efforts without discrimination based on region or selected species. The fund is primarily interested in providing support to in situ conservation work (such as survey work and data gathering, direct action, recovery management, training, and the like) that focuses on the species in its natural habitat. However, the importance of ex-situ work (genetic analysis, workshops, ex situ populations, etc.) is also recognized; therefore, a few grants may be given to projects that focus on ex situ conservation work in certain circumstances.
