JOB DESCRIPTION: PHILADELPHIA FREEDOM SCHOOL SPECIAL ASSISTANT

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Assistant to the Philadelphia Freedom School Project helps the Coordinator in the overall implementation of the Philadelphia Freedom School. The Assistant has a working knowledge of Freedom School specifically the way that Philadelphia Freedom Schools operate. The Assistant can act proactively, creatively and effectively in providing assistance to the Coordinator, Junior Servant Leaders, Academic Advisors and the Sites.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the recruitment of Junior Servant Leaders
Assist in the planning and implementation of Training and Think Tank Meetings
Provide overall support of the programmatic elements of the Project
Provide technical assistance to sites
Field incoming calls and emails regarding the Project
Assist in clerical duties associated with the Project
Generate correspondences & reports as they relate to the Project
Operate the Project in the absence of the Coordinator
Other duties as needed

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Knowledge of Philadelphia Freedom Schools=B8 Excellent verbal & written communication skills

MINIMUM TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
Must have at least one year experience working with high school students. Excellent command of word processing, database and email software. Associates or Bachelors Degree in social work, education or related field
