6pm – 8:30pm
The Comcast Center, 45th Floor, 1701 JFK Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19103
Join the Emerging Leaders of People’s Emergency Center for “Sounding the Horn: A Crossfire
Discussion on Educational Outcomes.”
How does our society (and our city) define a quality education?
How do we duplicate successful education models
that exist as far as South Korea and as close as West Philadelphia?
And how do we make sure that we are properly equipping our children to compete on a global level?
Modeled after the rapid fire pace of ESPN’s ‘Around the Horn’, 5 prominent Philadelphia thoughtleaders will have only two minutes to respond to these questions, and more. After each round, attendees will vote as to whom they believe offered the best response.
Moderator: Cherri Gregg, Community Affairs Reporter at KYW Newsradio
Panelists include:
Soledad Alfaro, Vice President of Educational Innovations at the Philadelphia Education Fund
George Burrell, Partner, Kleinbard Becker & Bell
Dr. Leroy Nunery, II, Former Asst. Superintendent of Philadelphia Public Schools
Stanford Thompson, CEO, Play on Philly
Ronnie Polaneczky Education Columnist for The Daily News
The discussion will be followed by a cocktail hour and networking reception. All proceeds from the event will go to support People’s Emergency Center.
The Emerging Leaders of People’s Emergency Center is a group of young professionals (age 25-40) who are committed to PEC’s mission of nurturing families, strengthening neighborhoods, and driving change in West Philadelphia.
