2019 Dennis Clark Solas Award Honoree
Dr. Bhavna Shyamalan
Dr. Bhavna Shyamalan, Co-Founder and Vice President, M. Night Shyamalan Foundation, will be given the Dennis Clark Solas Award for her leadership, vision, and tireless advocacy for advancing human rights and addressing social injustice around the world.
Dr. Shyamalan was born in India, raised in Hong Kong, and received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Bryn Mawr College. She is the Co-founder and Vice President of the M. Night Shyamalan Foundation, for which she travels around the world vetting nonprofits. Under her leadership, the foundation has invested in initiatives both locally and globally that address issues such as Education, Food and Nutrition, Human Trafficking and Slavery, Livelihood and Jobs Skills, and Water. The foundation has supported nonprofits in India, Tanzania, Guatemala, South Sudan, Nicaragua, Kenya, and Ghana.
