Impact Fund invites applications to advance social justice

Founded in 1992, the Impact Fund provides grants, advocacy, and education in support of impact litigation on behalf of communities seeking economic, environmental, racial, and social justice.

Through the fund, grants generally ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 will be awarded to nonprofit organizations, solo practitioners, or small legal firms that are involved in economic, environmental, racial, and social justice cases that will benefit a community facing systemic oppression. Most cases funded are class actions, but the organization also funds multi-plaintiff and environmental justice cases that aim to significantly affect a larger system or lead to meaningful law reform.

Impact Fund grants may be used for out-of-pocket litigation expenses such as expert witness fees and costs as well as discovery costs but not for attorneys’ fees, staff, or other overhead.

The Impact Fund reviews grant requests four times per year. For notifications in mid-June 2025, letters of interest must be received no later than April 1, 2025, and selected applicants will be invited to submit a full application due May 1, 2025.

For complete program guidelines and application instructions, see the Impact Fund website.

Deadline: April 1, 2025 (Letters of Interest)
