Reception to Follow
The Social Change Leaders are gradating, and we?d like to invite you to celebrate their innovative work and accomplishments! Come to the National Constitution Center to meet these emerging leaders and be inspired by one of Greater Philadelphia Cares? favorite heroes of social change, Graham Finney.
Mr. Graham Finney is an accomplished city planner, a compassionate advocate for economic justice, a visionary entrepreneur, and a non-profit pioneer, founding and leading organizations including Public/Private Ventures and The 21st Century League. For those not familiar with this legend of Philadelphia history, Graham accomplished an amazing feat by uniting concerned citizen leaders in the bleakest days of the city, launching The 21st Century League with a project to physically clean City Hall. This consortium is famous for getting then Mayor, Edward Rendell to tackle the dirtiest job ? the toilets!
As you may know, Greater Philadelphia Cares launched its pilot course of an intense, 6-month leadership program for budding social entrepreneurs on Martin Luther King Day. A remarkable assemblage of idealistic, energetic and compassionate citizens embarked together for a hands-on course in social change leadership. Taught by seasoned non-profit, corporate and civic leaders, this class of 28 individuals developed group projects addressing urban blight, bolstering youth leadership and service, providing public health programming to underserved populations, and empowering teens in foster care and juvenile court systems.
We are excited for you to meet and support these graduates as they go forth with their initiatives to improve the quality of life and the health of the region. This is a great opportunity to get involved with dynamic individuals and innovative projects!
