INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Small Business Lending & Training Intern
REPORTS TO: Lending & Training Support
MISSION: The Women’s Opportunities Resource Center’s (WORC) mission is to promote social and economic self-sufficiency for economically disadvantaged people, particularly women and immigrants. WORC provides entrepreneurial training, technical assistance, and access to business and financial resources.
DESCRIPTION: WORC seeks a part-time Intern to assist with its lending and training microenterprise programs. Duties include helping with loan file preparation and management, audit preparation, and supporting the lending and training staff with data collection, client outcome assessment, and general office duties as assigned. A good opportunity for someone interested in community and economic development, microfinance and/or social change.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Applications, particularly Excel.
• Experience working with databases and data entry. Attention to detail a must.
• Organized self-starter capable of working well independently as well as part of a team. Should be flexible and open to feedback.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive data.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with pleasant and professional phone manner.
• At least 2 years of college or relevant work/life experience.
• Familiarity with social media a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Loan Administration: Assist lending staff with duties and responsibilities associated with preparing loan applications for underwriting, developing loan package, and duties related to monitoring existing clients in the loan portfolio, including preparing loan files for audit reviews.
• Client Assessment: Work with staff to conduct microenterprise assessment process as part of a national field evaluation. Assist in collecting, organizing and assessing data in relation to this project.
• Social Media: Work with staff to implement social media strategies.
• Other related administrative duties, as assigned.
HOURS & COMPENSATION: Negotiable. Possible stipend and/or course credit available.
