The “Sisters: Can We Talk?” Symposium and Film Screening will be held at Arcadia University on Friday, October 22, 2010 from 12Noon – 9:00 PM….and you are invited!!!  The Symposium consists of workshops and panel discussions inspired by the documentary, “We Need To Talk: A Conversation with Our Daughters.”

Join Dr. Judith A.W. Thomas,  Dean of the School of Social Science and Behavioral Studies at Lincoln University, PA as our keynote speaker and presenters such as Dr. Barbara Collins, author of the inspirational book, It’s Your Turn: Find Your Authentic Self and Go Fetch It! along with  former Philadelphia Health Czar Gwen Foster, Tax Diva founder Anita Conner, Dr. Terry Nance, Asst. VP Multicultural Affairs, Villanova University  and others for an afternoon of energy, engagement, and empowerment.  This sister-to-sister dialogue will center around issues that impact and empower African American women, such as self awareness, self-empowerment, financial literacy, health relationships and more.  The cost of the entire conference is $45.00 and includes lunch, workshops, the film screening and a panel discussion.  The film screening and panel discussion will be held from 6 to 9 pm and only costs $10.00.   Come meet the films creator/director Janks Morton and join the panel discussion lead by WURD’s Sara Lomax-Reese.  The film chronicles the heartfelt and intimate moments shared by ten phenomenal women from the South Side of Chicago; this film presents their riveting and untold story that is shared by all of us.  Their message….Sister, daughter, grandmother, aunt or girlfriend, there is something I need to tell you about my life, and I hope my story will help you heal.  “We Need to Talk,” is guaranteed to provide the cornerstone and bedrock for all women to give back to younger women in a way that has never been initiated by film.  The truth and transparency of these women’s lives has permanently knocked opened the doorway to let a soul restoring generational bridge to be built.
