Service Providers Needed for Teen Summit

Posted by on April 9, 2007

In my efforts to increase civic engagement and healthy communication among youth, I will be holding a Teen Summit on Saturday, April 21, 2007, 9 a.m. ? 3:30 p.m., at Walk Auditorium, Ritter Hall, Temple University, 1301 Cecil B. Moore Ave. My office is partnering with Dreamfield Academy, an educational program that provides mentoring, GED testing, job preparation and social development to youth, adolescents, adults and families in central North Philadelphia, through conflict resolution, anger management, family programs and non-traditional sports activities.

I am writing to request that you assist my office by sending a representative to provide information on topics that affect young people. We will supply you with a table and two chairs to hand out brochures and any promotional items.

So many of our youth are in need of a forum that will allow them to express themselves freely without fear of being judged. It is my hope that this Teen Summit will help to play a pivotal role in breaking down the barriers of communication our young people face. I know that this group is brimming with fresh ideas, convictions and hope for a better society. Students from various high schools in my district have been invited to participate. We expect between 100 to 150 students to attend.

To confirm your participation, please contact Kentia Waters, at 215-227-6161 or via email: [email protected]. My office looks forward to hearing from you. Thank you in advance for considering my request.

Best regards,

Shirley M. Kitchen
State Senator?Third District
