Service learning’s ripple effect: Millennials and public service

Service learning is a teaching and learning strategy that “integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility and strengthen communities.” Today, it has reached classrooms from kindergarten through college and beyond. But it got off the ground in the early ‘90s, which means that Millennials and service learning came of age together.
