Service-Learning in Psychology
May 21-22, 2004
University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh

The Upper Midwest Campus Compact Consortium (comprised of the Compacts in MN, WI, and IA), will be sponsoring a workshop on the integration of service-learning into Psychology courses. The workshop will be led by two nationally recognized experts:

? Robert Bringle, Director, Center for Service and Learning and Chancellor’s Professor of Psychology and Philanthropic Studies, Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis; and,
? Donna Killian Duffy, Professor of Psychology and Coordinator of the Carnegie Community of Practice at Middlesex Community College, Bedford and Lowell, Massachusetts.

As we develop the workshop agenda, we are interested in identifying faculty who are currently engaged in service-learning within the field of psychology to serve as panelists and/or break-out session facilitators during the workshop. We are particularly interested in identifying individuals with experience in the following areas:

? Psychological Research on Service-Learning
? Tools and/or Examples of Conceptual Contributions to Service-Learning
? Authentic Assessment of Service-Learning Outcomes
? Service-Learning in Introductory Psychology Courses
? Service-Learning in Psychology Graduate Programs
? Working with Community Partners
? Service-Learning Connections with Professional Association Undergraduate Guidelines
? Documenting Service-Learning Activities for Tenure and Promotion in Psychology
? Examples of how service-learning is being successfully integrated into courses such as research methods, social psychology, abnormal psychology, life-span, cognitive psychology, bio-psychology, neuro-psychology, etc.

We encourage all potential contributors to involve community partners. Faculty interested in sharing their work in these areas are encouraged to contact Tom Schnaubelt at 262-595-2002, Thomas.schnaubelt@uwp.edu.

Sincerely,
Tom
