Philadelphia Senior Center hosts upcoming events
The Philadelphia Senior Center is planning several upcoming events. As part of its new civic engagement initiative, Ready to Serve, the organization will present A Step Along the Way: Seniors Combating Crime and How to Clean Green.
Seniors Combating Crime, which takes place on Friday, November 7th from 10-noon, will explore how seniors can proactively work to reduce crime in Philadelphia. This event will feature Deputy Mayor for Public Safety, Everett Gillison, and speakers from the Prison Society of Philadelphia, Archdiocesan Prison Ministries Office and others. Opportunities to volunteer will also be provided.
How to Clean Green, sponsored in partnership with the Women’s Health & Environmental Network (W.H.E.N.), will take place on Thursday, November 13th from 10-11:30am and will provide information on non-toxic, green cleaning products and methods for cleaning your home. Participants will learn how to make cleaners from simple household items and will have an opportunity to join PSC’s new Senior Green Team.
Both events are free and take place at the Main Branch, 509 S. Broad Street, Philadelphia, Rooms A & B. For more information about attending or volunteering, email Helen Sunga or call 215-546-5879.
