he Hope Center for College, Community and Justice, at Temple University is seeking a Senior Research Associate (Sr. RA) to join our growing team. As a mission-driven organization we take seriously the importance of rigorous research, engagement and communication activities, and advocacy. Our diverse team is committed to communities that demand affordable, accessible, high-quality education from high school through higher education and beyond. Our teammates demonstrate why #RealCollege matters: we have collectively lived the challenges of navigating government bureaucracy and cash-strapped colleges, experienced the trauma and perils of living without financial stability, and experienced marginalization along nearly every possible line.
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Sr. RA is responsible for conducting research studies within the Center. The incumbent will provide comprehensive senior level coordination and management of the day-to-day research activities, such as: designing and planning research studies, overseeing general data collection and serving as an authoritative source on research practices, precedents, theory, and principles. Most of these studies will be multi-sited, longitudinal studies utilizing multiple data sources and collaboration with both colleges and external agencies. All will be high-profile externally-funded activities.
The Sr. RA will be responsible navigating human subjects and legal approvals, and recruiting study participants. This position will conduct data cleaning, coding, and statistical programming and/or qualitative data collection, coding, and analysis activities. The Sr RA will also work on translating research studies into policy and/or practice and will prepare both public-facing and academic reports on the studies. Delivering presentations and seminars at national meetings and conferences is also an essential function of the role. Performs other duties as assigned.
Too many students leave college without credentials because life, logistics, and a lack of money get in the way. These #RealCollege students are the new majority, but they are often ignored. The Hope Center for College, Community, and Justice at Temple University drives innovative practice, evidence-based policymaking, and effective communications to support #RealCollege students.
