Senior Center Accreditation RFP
Posted by United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey on May 5, 2014
United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey (UWGPSNJ) strengthens the quality of senior centers in local communities to ensure older adults have the resources they need to live healthy and independent lives. Last year alone, more than 10,000 older adults reported that the UWGPSNJ- funded senior centers they frequented had a positive effect on their lives, providing access to physical health and general wellness check-ups, as well as social and emotional support.
As part of this effort, UWGPSNJ will assist senior centers located in Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties in achieving accreditation by the National Institute of Senior Centers (NISC). Ninety percent of all senior centers accredited in the region to NISC have earned their certification with the help of UWGPSNJ.
High quality centers offer seniors the opportunity to improve their health, lifestyle and nutrition each year, making it more likely that they will remain healthy and safe at home.
Agencies interested in receiving funding to achieve the NISC accreditation should submit their application by email to [email protected] and [email protected] by May 15th. Awardees will be notified by May 30th and awards will be allocated by June 30th. Centers must notify UWGPSNJ when self-assessment is completed and when accreditation has been achieved.
