March 20th, 7pm-9:30pm
Penn State Great Valley, Malvern PA
No fee – Registration required. Email: [email protected]
Program Information:
Although issues of workplace diversity related to things like race and gender continue to be compelling and important, diversity as a community and human resources dynamic has expanded in the last 4 or 5 years to include a wide range of topics that go beyond race and gender. Among the growth areas of human diversity are issues related to sexual orientation in a workplace and in the greater workplace community. As people’s familiarity and exposure to others who differ from them based on this important diversifier grows, so do their questions about how best to fulfill a mission of full inclusivity that takes sexual orientation into account.
Topics include: organizational imperatives for full inclusion (i.e. why is SO a valid workplace diversifier; some basics about sexual orientation; organizational strategies for full inclusion; individual strategies for full inclusion; HR focused strategies including a very in-depth look at education in this area of diversity; The “speedbumps” that organizations sometimes encounter on this particular diversity road; Domestic Partner Benefits – a primer: what they are, how they work, why organizations should have them.
