Seeking Middle School STEM Programs for Philadelphia Promise Zone
Posted by Philadelphia Education Fund on August 27, 2018
Fall 2018
The McKinney Center, Drexel University, and the Pennsylvania Statewide Afterschool/Youth Development Network are offering an excellent opportunity for Philadelphia STEM afterschool/out-of-school time (OST) middle-school programs located in the Philadelphia Promise Zone.
Funded by the National Science Foundation, Philly Scientists is a 3-year research project administered by the McKinney Center and its STEM partners. Educators and scientists have created a technology-infused curriculum unit focused on the Next Generation Science Standards; and on its ecology and biodiversity content specifically. In this unit, fourth, fifth and sixth grade students from the Philadelphia Promise Zone use professional tracking tools, field guides, and mobile applications to gather and analyze data on neighborhood biodiversity.
We are seeking one or two middle-school STEM afterschool/out-of-school time programs to participate in our Fall 2018 activities. The specific participation criteria, participation benefits, and participation requirements are outlined HERE.
