The Business Partnerships Specialist will work in conjunction with the other team members to become the center of expertise for workforce trends and organizing at PYN.
The Business Partnerships Department synthesizes market analyses and youth labor studies to maintain expert knowledge of trends in the region, and uses this knowledge to inform programming at PYN as well as PYN’s advocacy across the city. The Department also works directly with employers to analyze further the needs of the Philadelphia labor market and its employers, as well as coordinate youth workforce activities across the city. The Department builds relationships with employers, schools, and professional associations to ensure internship and work exposure opportunities for youth and systemic investment in Philadelphia Youth Network. The Department upholds the Workforce Development Business’ standard of excellence.
Essential Functions:
• Develop employer engagement strategies
• Broker and manage relationships with business partners,
• Research market trends and build a high level of expertise
• Organize and offer a menu of options for employer and volunteer involvement
• Develop corporate fundraising strategies through fee-for-service and sponsorship
• Provide training and orientation opportunities for employers and interns
• Conduct worksite visits and employer meetings
• Match internship candidates to prospective employers and schedule youth for interviews
• Provide opportunities for employer feedback (i.e. via survey and focus groups)
• Provide opportunities for employer recognition (i.e.. via events, media exposure)
• Coordinate special projects (i.e. Young Friends of PYN)
• Manage and maintain relevant databases and data
• Write reports
• Support citywide workforce development initiatives
• Increase the visibility of PYN and WorkReady in the Greater Philadelphia business community
• Attend relevant networking events
• Other duties as assigned
Education, Experience & Skills Required:
• Bachelors Degree with equivalent experience preferred
• Demonstrated success collaborating with other educational, social or governmental systems
• Strong verbal, written and public speaking communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and networking skills
• Ability to convene and motivate teams and diverse populations
• Knowledge of local and national education reform and workforce development issues and strategies
• Excellent customer service skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of Greater Philadelphia business community
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Successful completion of a child abuse clearance and criminal background check
• Ability to use personal computer for word processing, database management and presentation materials.
