Philadelphia Wooden Boat Factory (PWBF) provides resiliency-based out-of-school time programming for high school teenagers from Philadelphia’s Frankford section and its surrounding neighborhoods. Within PWBF students find an environment where they feel safe to take healthy risks, and learn to manage their stress while being creative, supported, and accepted. Students develop lasting relationships with PWBF mentors – connections that are consistent, reliable, stable and bounded. In doing so students develop a tool-kit of 21st century skills, and the resilience needed to make the transition into post-secondary education or employment.
