THE GALLUP-HOPE INDEX

GALLUP STUDENT POLL
The Gallup Student Poll is a measure that will track for 10 years the hope, engagement and wellbeing of school students in grades 5 through 12 across the county. Schools and districts may participate at no cost. Through a web-based survey administered in the fall of each school year, the poll supplies teachers, administrators and community leaders with actionable and malleable data related to key achievement measures. In 2013, over 610,000 students participated nationwide.

GALLUP-HOPE INDEX
For schools participating in HOPE Business In A Box Academies (HBIABA) or Banking on Our Future (BOOF), the Gallup Student Poll also contains the Gallup-HOPE Index Economic Energy items to measure youth entrepreneurial aspirations and important metric that can help educators keep students engaged, help them remain hopeful, and give them a meaningful opportunity to participate in today’s economy.

GOAL
The goal is to fill the data void helping schools, districts and community leaders build more effective, holisitic strategies aimed at student success.. The Gallup-HOPE Index and Gallup Student Poll surveys help educators understand the characteristics and aspirations of their youth so that they may better engage, teach and help their students succeed at all levels. These variables are directly correlated to graduation rates, truancy, delinquency, grade-point average, and future success.

WHEN
The Gallup-HOPE Index will be available for schools in October 2014 (specific dates to be announced)

RESULTS
School-specific results and reports will be sent to schools in December 2014. Operation HOPE Program Managers will be available to discuss your school’s results and how to best utilize the data.
