School Turnaround AmeriCorps National Evaluation: Final Evaluation Report
Posted by Corporation for National and Community Service on September 12, 2016
August was Education Month at CNCS, and we have newly released research that shows the School Turnaround AmeriCorps program is viewed as playing an important role in helping students and the high-need schools succeed all across the country. 85% of school leaders say that the program — a joint initiative of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) and the Department of Education (ED) — is contributing positively to achieving key outcomes, including improving students’ academic achievement and socio-emotional health.

The program’s model places a dedicated cadre of AmeriCorps members in persistently underachieving schools across the country who work to improve students’ academic performance, academic engagement, attendance, high school graduation rates, and college readiness.
The results aren’t just seen on paper — classrooms all across the country are seeing the benefits.
The School Turnaround AmeriCorps partnership reflects ED and CNCS’ commitment to increasing opportunities for students in disadvantaged communities by providing a high-quality education.
