School District of Philadelphia’s new Strategic PLan
Posted by School District of Philadelphia on March 16, 2015
From Superintendent William Hite:
I am excited to share with you the latest update to the District’s strategic vision, Action Plan v3.0.
Building on our four Anchor Goals, the plan continues our focus on college- and career-readiness, grade-level reading, great teaching and learning, and financial sustainability. Most importantly, it details a vision for investments in our neighborhood schools, which enroll the overwhelming majority of our students, and expanding access to high-quality educational opportunities.
Equity is our mandate and Action Plan v3.0 builds toward it in four ways:
- Organizing schools by neighborhoods and specialized expertise to better support student success;
- Providing high-quality development for principals, teachers and other staff while continuing to recruit great team members;
- Partnering with city and state officials to secure fair, recurring funds that prioritize student needs; and
- Providing school-oriented shared services.
Your voices are the foundation of this plan, which reflects on your great work to date. We incorporated your recommendations from listening sessions, interviews, emails and surveys over the last year in the hopes of giving you a greater stake in what lies ahead. Our goal is to put each of you, particularly our teachers and administrators, in the best position to guide students toward success.
We are greatly encouraged by Governor Wolf’s proposed infusion of new funds into the District and eagerly await details from Mayor Nutter’s budget, which will be released tomorrow. Our focus is on progress. Every school can be great. Every child can learn. Each of us has a role to play in moving the District forward.
