District issues strategic plan update amidst funding concerns
The School District of Philadelphia has issued an overview of its progress towards achieving the goals established in its five-year strategic plan, Imagine 2014.
The report comes as the District is reeling from the expected loss of hundreds of millions of dollars as a result of the proposed state budget for next fiscal year and the loss of federal stimulus dollars.
The Phase II (2011) Mid-Year Progress Report reports on the results achieved so far by the District in reducing the reading achievement gap between children of color and white children, improvements in Grade 3 PSSA scores, establishing a pipeline of teachers of color and increasing teacher retention, and improving facilities.
