School District of Philadelphia Kindergarten Registration Information

Posted by School District of Philadelphia on March 19, 2019

This is a reminder the School District of Philadelphia’s Kindergarten Registration process for the 2019-2020 school year is currently open until May 31, 2019.

We don’t have to tell you how important kindergarten is to the academic success of a child. Our goal this year is to have all families with kindergarten-eligible children attend one of our Open Houses and to register their child before May 31. This will allow families to connect with their school and help the District to plan and achieve a smooth school opening.

We need your help to achieve this goal. Please help us inform families, community members, and partners about the importance of school readiness and kindergarten registration. One way you can do that is by sharing our registration flyer with your families, staff and community members.

As part of the opening of registration, we are launching what we are calling our “Thrive At Five” campaign to promote kindergarten enrollment. You can expect to see billboards and ads on SEPTA buses, trains and shelters and in newspapers to make families aware of registration. We will also run an aggressive social media effort using #ThriveAtFive. Please join the effort by sharing our posts on your social networks.

The District hosted Kindergarten Open House events on March 5, 2019 and will do so again during the week of May 6, 2019 to May 10, 2019. These will be opportunities for families to learn more about the kindergarten experience at their neighborhood school. We will be promoting these Kindergarten Open Houses as the dates get closer. We hope you will do the same.
